Here come the floods

I've been watching the river over the past month or so as it has swollen and convulsed. Officials have been doing a good job of releasing water from the reservoir in preparation for the spring runoff, but no one anticipated just how much precip we'd have this year. It is late May, and Mt. Timpanogos looks like this.

So, I've already stopped running on the pier as it was bepuddled the last time I ran it, but now it looks as if I may have to give up the western-most branch of the river trail, as well. Two of the trail tunnels are already flooded and the others are starting to fill.

Thus the only thing left to wonder is: Will it reach our homes or stay in the environs of the river? Even in the flooding of the 80s the water didn't get up quite this far, but things are not looking good at the moment...

  1. Goodness!! I guess I didn't realize how much run-off we were having. Those pictures are gorgeous though.
I had a running dream the other night. I was running a 5k (or some other smaller run) and thought I was late. Just as I circled around to finish, I realized everyone was just starting. You were there - you sped right past me...you were very fast. It felt so great to be running again,...even if only in my dreams. Thank you for posting your running experiences...it's obviously keeping the running bug in me alive and kicking! :)
