Back on the Bonneville 7/2/11

I saw scores of hot air balloons, a deer, and my mentor from grad school. No, it wasn't a vision quest - it was a trail run!

I took to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail by myself for the first time this morning. Started with great views of the Freedom Hot Air Balloon Festival. Got lost trying to find the "right" way onto the trail. Then ran about 4 miles on the trail, from Slate Canyon to Rock Canyon. Saw the deer along the way - he ran right in front of me. Saw my mentor in Rock Canyon. Ran 4 miles back on the trail, then got lost trying to find the "right" way off of the trail. Overall, a great run!

Behind the Blog

I began running casually about twelve years ago. In the intervening years, I have varied in my commitment to running. In the last year and a half, I have really come to understand the benefits of running, from improved cognition to a closer connection with nature.

It occurred to me one day as I was running that I see a lot of things when I run that others may miss. I wanted to document those things and share them with others. Thus, this blog was born.

On this blog, I share pictures that I take while running, articles on the benefits of running, information about races that I participate in, etc. Please keep in mind that I take the pictures with my cell phone - it is a bit difficult to carry my digital SLR when I'm running!
